The medals are dedicated to the discovery of the shores of North-West America by Russian navigators, their subjects reflecting the moments of navigation from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky to the “Big Earth” - America by the ships of the Second Kamchatka Russian government expedition commanded by Vitus Bering and Alexei Ivanovich Chirikov. Members of this expedition reached Russian America in July 1741.
